Sun
ParticipantHello everyone!
My name is Sun. I am 30 years old, female, born and raised in China. Now I am a graduate student living in Tokyo, Japan. I used to work as an electricity engineer and now I study business administration.
I started stuttering when I was in middle school. At that time, I was quite good at English. We were asked to recite text on class, and I was able to recite the whole passage without any mistakes or hesitations. Because of the pursue of PERPECTIONISM and the stress I gave myself, Bam! I start stuttering.
I started reading Lee’s book like two weeks ago. And I really like it! It offers me something new that I never considered before, like hearing fluency and not hearing dysfluency. In the past, I am very reluctant to use any techniques to avoid stuttering because I used to consider it as a matter of courage.(Now I knew how wrong I was)
I believe crutches should work and I should practice more to master them. However, I don’t think I am progressing enough. My email address is sunningyu.me@gmail.com. If anyone also wants to practice crutches, why not send me an email, and let’s do it together! I think it should be very helpful! Btw, I can speak English, Chinese and Japanese. If you want to practice in any of these languages, please email me!
All the best to all of you! Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone. We are fighting together!

ModeratorHi Sun, Welcome!!
I am Leah, a SAC certified coach. So glad that you found us.
If you sign up as a stuttering plan member, you will gain access to all of the +-1000 coaching videos on our website. This will show you exactly how to use the crutches as it is basically like being coached on your own.
You will also gain access to the video course on crutches, this will help you become familiar with the crutches so that you are able to practice them on your own. The “Crutch Mastery” course is coming out this Sunday! So it is an extra course to help you MASTER the crutches.
If you sign up now, you will get 3 free coaching sessions from one of our highly knowledgeable certified coaches. I wish you the best of luck and I hope to see you at the SAM meeting this Saturday at 10 am DC time.

ModeratorHi Sun,
first of all, welcome to SAC. Just like Leah, I’m also a PWSS and a Certified Speech Coach of SAC.
I totally agree with Leah’s recommendation. To be able to know how to use the Crutches, probably the best way to do it is to watch the video lessons of th “Crutch Mastery Series” and “Stuttering & Anxiety self-cures” courses. One thing is to read from the book how to use the Crutches, and another thing is to see somebody use them, and explain them to you.
And of course, if you become a Stuttering member of SAC you will also get access to all the videos of coaching sessions. We practice the Crutches in most of them, so watching any of these videos will surely help you a great deal too. And now, if you subscribe to this membership, you get 3 free coaching sessions with one of us!Although it might be a bit too late in Japan, I really recommend you to attend to the SAM meetings. We have these meetings every Saturday at 10am NY time. In this meetings you will be able to meet us, the coaches (including Lee Lovett), other PWSS and PWS. The speaker of this week’s meeting is one of my students, who’s a PWSS now, and he’s going to talk about his speech journey. I’m sure you’ll find it very motivating, and you’ll surely learn a lot too.
As a free member of SAC you can get the Zoom details of these meetings if you go to the “Community” section of this website, and click on “Speech Club”. Once you’re there, you need to click on “Zoom information for next meeting”.
Have a great day!!
